About Us

Butler County Challenger Baseball is a league designed for children and young adults with special needs from ages 5 and up to learn and enjoy the American past time.

Challenger Baseball Leagues are affiliated with Little League Baseball and our league currently has over 100 players divided among 10 teams. The teams are categorized as either “Majors” or “Minors” based on level of skill, age, and competitiveness.  We also have an adult league to allow our players to continue playing well into their adult years.

The purpose of Challenger baseball is to allow children and young adults with special needs the opportunity to experience the game of baseball. It also provides them the chance to feel the joy of teamwork and success that can be rare in the life of a special needs individual.

Each player is encouraged to participate in as much of the game as they are able, but they can also be teamed up with a “buddy” who helps them bat, run, field the ball and experience the game. Buddies are asked to let the player do all they can themselves but to be nearby to help when needed.

Our History

Since 1989, Butler County Challenger Baseball has offered individuals with developmental disabilities, from age 5 through adulthood, the chance to learn and experience the game of baseball while making new friends and being cheered on to greatness.
